In-Fusio, an international publisher of mobile phone games, has acquired two companies as it continues to expand: Thumbworks Inc., a mobile games publisher in Tustin, CA, and Mobile Scope, a German mobile games developer. The terms of neither acquisition were disclosed. Thumbworks' acquisition seems to have mainly been transacted with an eye toward expanding In-Fusio's distribution network in the U.S. Craig Holland, former president of Thumbworks, will now oversee In-Fusio's U.S. operations, and will use his ties to phone carriers and manufacturers to increase In-Fusio's American presence. In addition, In-Fusio will gain Thumbworks' catalogue of mobile games, which includes Suzuki Motocross Challenge, Element Surfing, and Etch-a-Sketch.. In Mobile Scope's case, the back catalogue and future development work of the company is the primary asset gained in the transaction; the company develops games with high-profile licenses such as Die Hard and Ice Age. Mobile Scope's resources will now be brought to bear on licenses In-Fusio already holds, including South Park, E.T., Tomb Raider, and The Terminator. "In six years, IN-FUSIO has become one of the world's top three mobile game publishers and has built a unique position in connected mobile game services," said In-Fusio Co-CEO Giles Corbett. "Just after the purchase of Thumbworks, the acquisition of Mobile Scope perfectly matches our strategy to deliver entertaining content for mobile phones and services dedicated to players' communities."
