Crytek has announced a new licensor for its CryEngine 3 in the form of UTV subsidiary Ignition (
Deadly Premonition publisher), which will use the engine for an action-adventure title being created at its London development studio.
Publisher/developer Ignition, which is headquartered in the U.K. with offices in Los Angeles, Florida, London, Mumbai and Tokyo, will use the engine for a "flagship title" described as a "uniquely crafted combat action-adventure, set for release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3."
CryEngine 3, which
recently upgraded to Version 3.1, includes Live Create, which lets developers simultaneously create and edit game content in real-time on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC from a single developer’s PC.
While no CryEngine 3 console titles have shipped yet, Crytek's own
recently revealed Crysis 2, being published by EA Partners, is one of the showcase titles for the latest evolution of the formerly PC-exclusive engine technology.
