The organizers of the 2006 Independent Games Festival have released a final reminder to interested parties that the main IGF competition has a rapidly approaching entry deadline of Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at 11.59pm PST.
The main IGF competition, which has awarded prizes in the past to games including
Wik & The Fable Of Souls,
Alien Hominid,
Oasis, and
Gish, sports a total prize pool of $35,000 this year, including a biggest-ever $20,000 Seumas McNally Grand Prize for the best independent game.
In addition, the competition, for which winners will be revealed at the 2006 Game Developers Conference in San Jose next March, will hand out individual $2,500 prizes for Innovation In Visual Art, Innovation In Audio, Innovation In Game Design, Technical Excellence, and an Audience Award. In addition, for the first time, the IGF is featuring a Best Web Browser Game award - entrants in this category will also be eligible to win any of the other prizes, including the Grand Prize.
