The International Game Developers Association has begun accepting applications to its GDC scholarship program, which awards 25 students main conference passes to the 2009 Game Developers Conference. Applicants must be full-time university students (or equivalent) and may be in either graduate or undergraduate programs. Applicants must also be members of the IGDA (student membership is $30 per year, and students can enroll at any time). The application consists mostly of short essay-style writing. A panel of professional game developers, who volunteer their time, will serve as the judging committee for the applications. The deadline to enter is Thursday, January 15, 2009. The scholarship recipients will be announced in February. For more information and to apply, visit igda.org/scholarships. Additionally, on the IGDA forum, several game developers have offered some highly detailed advice about how to create a competitive application, as well as details about how the contest is judged. (Applicants are encouraged to read this material prior to applying.)
