The International Games Developers Association (IGDA) trade body has announced a reshuffle, coinciding with the organization ending its managing agreement with CMP (the owners of the Game Developers Conference, as well as Game Developer magazine and Gamasutra.com.) The IGDA requested CMP’s help in 1999, and the association now feels that it has the infrastructure and support to continue on its own. However, the association will still maintain a strategic alliance with CMP and the Game Developers Conference, with a strong presence at GDC, including the organization of the GDC Awards during the conference. The IGDA will also continue to have a seat on the Game Developers Conference advisory board. The cessation of the management contract with CMP though will mean certain changes to IGDA member benefits and services, which will be properly detailed in the New Year. As part of the transition the association will be moving to a new headquarters in the Flood Building in San Francisco, while Jason Della Rocca will be taking on the role of executive director and Rudy Geronimo, currently community & operations manager, will also stay with the association.
