The Silicon Valley, Calif., and London chapters of the International Game Developers Association have announced their local get-togethers in the weeks after the annual Game Developers Conference, held this week (Feb. 18) in San Francisco.
Students of game development, with or without IGDA membership, are welcomed at these events, an opportunity GameCareerGuide.com strongly recommends they take. Attending IGDA meetings gives students greater exposure to the game development community by allowing them a casual and welcoming environment in which to connect with working video game makers. And because the purpose of the chapter meetings to share knowledge about the video game business, developers on hand tend to already be open to answering questions, offering advice, and generally assisting others in the community.
The Silicon Valley chapter will hold a “pizza night” at Capps in Mountain View, Calif., Wednesday Feb. 27 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. See
www.siliconvalleyigda.org for more information.
The London chapter's meeting will take place at the Slug and Lettuce pub in Soho (80-82 Wardour St., London) Monday, March 3 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
