Publisher and distributor WildTangent has announced an agreement with Hewlett-Packard to include the WildTangent gaming platform with the HP Games Console, included on all new HP consumer desktop and notebook PCs shipped worldwide beginning January 2008. Through the agreement, which expands on an existing relationship between the two companies, the HP Games Console will come pre-installed with arcade, puzzle and card games from WildTangent Studios, in addition to PlayFirst (with which WildTangent has a long-standing distribution deal), Sandlot, Popcap, Eidos and Vivendi Universal. Customers can also browse some 400 titles comprising WildTangent's game catalog, and purchase and download them directly through the HP Games Console. In addition to purchasing the games directly, the WildTangent-powered HP Games Console will also enable gamers to pay per session using WildCoins currency, or play for free with an ad-supported option. The Console will be localized in French, Italian, German, Spanish, Chinese and Korean. WildTangent CEO Alex St. John commented, "HP alone represents a larger distribution platform for games than any next-generation gaming console in the world. We will offer HP customers around the globe a catalog of hundreds of popular casual and enthusiast games localized in all major languages."
