Microsoft has announced that its regular Wednesday Xbox Live Arcade update will see the addition of THQ's single and multiplayer adventure game
SpongeBob SquarePants Underpants Slam!, based on the popular Nickelodeon animated series.
First announced in October, THQ says
Underpants Slam! is the first title developed specifically for XBLA, along with its already released
Screwjumper. Microsoft says the side-scrolling game will feature all of the characters of the series -- SpongeBob, Patrick, Mr. Krabs, Sandy Cheeks and Plankton -- in a "slap-happy extravaganza."
Players will be tasked with recovering 99 pairs of King Neptune underwear that have been misplaced, through recognizable environments like the kitchens of the Krusty Krab, the cargo hold of the Flying Dutchman’s ship and even the Treasure Room of Atlantis.
Playable with up to three other players across Xbox Live or locally, the game will feature both the standard Quest Mode, a Time Attack Mode, and a "single couch multiplayer Slam Mode."
SpongeBob SquarePants Underpants Slam! will be available Wednesday, December 26th at a price of 800 Microsoft Points ($10), along with more downloadable content for
Bomberman Live.
