Carlsbad, California-based Activision studio High Moon is developing the high-definition console versions of
Transformers: Dark of the Moon, a video game prologue to the events of the upcoming Transformers film.
The studio, which was also behind 2008's
The Bourne Conspiracy, also released the well-received
Transformers: War for Cybertron in June 2010, which was not directly affiliated with a film.
The
Transformers: Dark of the Moon game will have an original story that sets up the events in this July's Michael Bay-directed film. Activision said the game will also feature co-op and competitive online multiplayer game modes.
High Moon is developing the game for Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PlayStation 3. Independent Canadian game studio Behaviour Interactive is developing Wii, DS and 3DS versions of the game.
Last year, Transformers owner Hasbro said it expected a sequel to
Transformers: War for Cybertron in 2012, although the company did not officially confirm High Moon as the developer.
