Harmonix and MTV Games, along with distribution partner Electronic Arts, have announced that individual Rock Band instrument peripherals will ship to U.S. stores beginning February 12th. Peripherals for all applicable platforms will ship at the same time. The drum kit, priced at $79.99, becomes available in February, and a wireless Fender Stratocaster guitar controller, priced at $59.99, will hit retail April 1st. The individual availability of peripherals is designed to allow players to participate in same instrument versus modes, or to build their bands piece by piece. Rock Band is currently available either as stand-alone software or as part of a complete bundle featuring the guitar controller, drum kit and microphone peripherals. Harmonix co-founder and CEO Alex Rigopulos said, "The release of standalone instruments allows Rock Band musicians to enjoy the full Rock Band experience, including drum, microphone and guitar head-to-head modes, creating a whole new level of competitive fun. We're also delivering a stand-alone wireless guitar solution for all versions of Rock Band as well as providing the opportunity for consumers to build their band one instrument at a time."
