Greek Court Throws Out Videogame Cases

Two separate Greek courts in Thessaloniki threw out cases against two internet cafe owners and one cafe employee who were arrested when customers were found playing chess and Counter-Strike on cafe PCs.
The Greek law, passed in July to try to curb illegal gambling, makes it illegal to play or own any form of electronic gaming device -- it fails to differentiate between videogames and gambling devices. In its ruling, the court decried the law as unconstitutional. The three defendants were facing jail sentences and fines, and could have lost their business licences.
