Grasshopper Manufacture and Hungarian studio Digital Reality are joining up, inking a co-development partnership for digitally-distributed games.
The studios' first collaborative title,
Sine Mora, is a side-scrolling shooter that features time manipulation mechanics, and will be released on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. They plan to co-develop additional titles, though the number and nature of these projects isn't yet announced.
"We think we can strongly benefit from having an ally such as Digital Reality in the digital publishing realm, who can provide long term online publishing services to its partners, and to gamers," said Grasshopper CEO Goichi "Suda 51" Suda.
Grasshopper Manufacture, best known for eccentric titles
Killer 7 and
No More Heroes, is currently working on another unannounced game to be published by
Electronic Arts.
Digital Reality is one of the oldest Hungarian development studios, with its earliest games dating back to the Commodore Amiga. The studio currently has its hand in the casual and mobile games market with titles such as
Asteroid Miner and
Scarabeus: Pearls of Nile.
Andras Peller, CEO of Digital Reality added, "The partnership with Grasshopper Manufacture is an important step for Digital Reality. This collaboration with a Japanese top-tier developer pursues the development of our publishing line-up, whilst offering creative freedom to developers who want to make high value titles for online distribution."
