French graphics firm GPU-Tech has announced the launch of its internally developed Ecolib libraries and API, which it says will "divide the computing time of applications by 10 or more without changing his working habits." The company says that this can be achieved with Ecolib by either automatically porting parts of the code to GPU using the Ecolib libraries, or by programming the entire code in C++ on the GPU an optimised way using the “Ecolib” API. GPU-Tech adds that applications can be programmed, for the first time, in double precision on the graphic card, and are compatible with all pixel shaders - 2.x, 3.0 and 4.0 - from all manufacturers. The Ecolib libraries currently include: computing of options and VaR, generation of random numbers, basic Linear algebra (BLAS), resolution of linear system equations (LAPACK) and signal processing (FFT) and image processing.
