Nominations for the UK-based Golden Joystick Awards 2004, organized by British-headquartered Future Publishing, have been announced, ahead of this year's awards, scheduled for November 5th 2004 at the Park Lane Hilton in London.
This time around, THQ has grabbed nine nominations, with titles including
Full Spectrum Warrior, for the fan-nominated awards, for which voting is now taking place at the
official Golden Joystick site. Nintendo isn't far behind, with eight nominations, and Activision and Microsoft are both nominated for six awards.
The full multi-award nominee list is available on the official site, but of particular note is the 'Ultimate Game of the Year' awards, for whom the nominees are
Doom 3 (Activision),
Fable (Microsoft),
Half-Life 2 (Vivendi),
Ninja Gaiden (Microsoft),
Pro Evolution Soccer 4 (Konami), and
WWE Smackdown! Here Comes the Pain (THQ) - though it's tricky to see how voters can rate
Half-Life 2, considering it still hasn't hit retail.
