The Gnomon Workshop has released four new instructional DVDs by noted concept designer and artist, Syd Mead, intended for professional artists specializing in films, video games, industrial design and fine art.
Created in conjunction with Design Studio Press, the four new Analog DVDs all focus on Syd's artwork, including drawing, painting and design techniques. The four DVDs are titled as follows: The Techniques of Syd Mead, 1: Thumbnail Sketching and Line Drawings, The Techniques of Syd Mead, 2: Value Sketching, The Techniques of Syd Mead, 3: Creating the Color Preliminary and The Techniques of Syd Mead, 4: Final Gouache Rendering.
Syd Mead has been designing concepts for both movies and corporations alike for over 40 years. He is particularly known for motion picture concept design for films including Blade Runner, Tron and 2010, and he recently completed concept work for the
Tron 2.0: Killer App video game published by Buena Vista Interactive.
