German video game publisher dtp entertainment has announced new expansion plans, in the process creating a new position of chief operating officer (COO), to be filled by new board member Markus Windelen. In his new position Windelen will be in charge of expanding the company’s publishing activities in the games sector and increasing the company’s international reach.
"We're strengthening our position in the games industry tremendously. This requires an expansion of our human resources. We are thrilled to have found such an experienced veteran of the industry in Markus Windelen", said Thomas Baur, CEO of dtp entertainment.
"dtp has risen to being one of the major players among German publishers. Our accomplishments in the edutainment and adventure game genres are obvious. Currently, our team is forging ahead with the strongest product portfolio in the company's history. Projects like Drakensang: The Dark Eye
, the stealth-action title Sabotage
, Runaway 2
and Tony Tough 2
are only some examples. I'm looking forward to applying all my strength towards achieving the ambitious goals that dtp is aiming for", said Markus Windelen.
Windelen has a twelve year history in the games industry and was head of product acquisition at Bomico/Infogrames Germany, before transferring to its French parent company in Lyon in 1999 to work as director of production and marketing for the publishing arm of Atari Europe. From 2002 to 2005, Windelen worked in Australia as vice president of production at Melbourne House. He returned to Germany last year and worked as head of third party and licensing at Atari.
