Officials from developer Gearbox Software have announced a new contractor initiative aimed at helping potential video games makers get their first job in the industry. The COGS (Contractors of Gearbox Software) program is intended to aid future game developers, from the student and mod communities in particular, who might otherwise have trouble obtaining full time positions without previous experience. COGS contracts will mainly be in the areas of level design, art and programming and will require candidates to be high school graduates, legal U.S. residents, and at least eighteen years of age. Since Gearbox is offering frequent hands-on interaction, contractors must also be located in the vicinity of Plano, Texas for the duration of the contract. Specific details of the contracts available are due to be posted on the Gearbox Software website from 1st December.
