Server maker Electrotank today announced the launch of their new Electroserver ES5, which supports development of muiltiplayer games played across Flash, Unity3D, iOS and Android platforms. The new server builds on previous editions that only supported Flash development with new APIs that allow for simultaneous connections from multiple users across multiple platforms. New features in the updated server include a new UDP protocol for high-packet-rate transfers, enhanced security and anti-hacking technology, and a licensing option that removes the limit on the number of simultaneous connections allowed. "We built ES5 with scalability, performance, but above-all multi-platform projects in mind," said Electrotank CEO Michal Gold in a statement. "The rapid evolution of new devices and platforms in parallel with social gaming is taking demand for multiplayer online and mobile gaming to a new level. Electrotank is committed to making it easy and cost effective for developers to seize upon these opportunities," he continued. Electrotank technology is already used in products for brands including Meez, Bakugan, Webkinz, Action Allstars and others.
