The organizers of
Game Developers Conference Mobile have announced a Mobile Game Innovation Hunt, to be held on Monday, March 5th at GDC, and giving 12-15 mobile developers and publishers the opportunity to pitch their most innovative game to a panel of judges for prizes.
The judge-awarded prize for the most innovative mobile game includes a trophy, $1,500, a O2 Xda Flame donated by sponsor Nvidia, and a subscription to
Game Developer magazine, and a special audience prize, including $500 and passes to GDC Mobile 2008, will also be awarded.
The session at the event (created by CMP, as is Gamasutra.com) is hosted by Matthew Bellows and David Collier, and has judges confirmed to date including Joe Ariganello, Product Manager of Games, Sprint Nextel, and Levi Buchanan, Editor, IGN Wireless. More judges are due to be confirmed in the near future.
Entrants must have at least a demo version of their cellphone game in order to submit, and do not need to have yet purchased a GDC pass to do so - it's also permitted for the game to have been commercially released in the last 12 months.
Much more information on the competition (for which the entry deadline has been extended to February 2nd) is available at
the official GDC Mobile Game Innovation Hunt website.
