Graphics-related website CG Society and the CMP Game Group-owned Game Developers Conference have announced its inaugural Graphic Impact Annual Animation Competition, a new computer graphics art competition.
The theme of the inaugural competition is 'the Pivotal Moment', and more information is available on the official website
for the competition. According to the site: "You must create an image, animation and story depicting a pivotal moment between antagonist and protagonist. Conveying an emotional impact to the player is the key to this competition. We want entrants to focus on the ‘hero’ moment between two characters."
The six finalists with the best 30-second animations will be sponsored to travel to San Jose, California in March 2006 and to attend GDC to collect their prizes at a special awards ceremony. The finalists’ artwork will be on display in the Graphic Impact Art Gallery located at the San Jose Convention Center.
On Wednesday, March 22nd at the IGF/Game Developers Choice Awards, the competition will be detailed within the program and finalists’ artwork presented. Finally, on the evening of Thursday, March 23rd, winners will be announced during a VIP Art Reception. Prizes include a complimentary pass to the GDC, a travel stipend, other prize products, and CG Society and other CMP Game Group-related prizes.
