Turner's 'all you can eat' subscription gaming service GameTap has officially launched
Myst Online: Uru Live, the Cyan Worlds-developed online title which was resurrected by GameTap following the closing-down of an earlier, Ubisoft-backed iteration.
Myst Online: Uru Live introduces new Ages and puzzles to the long-lived franchise, while "fusing the social concepts of a traditional massively multiplayer online game with mystery and problem-solving facets", and is the most recent addition to the GameTap Originals label.
As part of its quest to expand its userbase for its $9.99 per month subscription download PC service, GameTap
launched the label back in October 2006, with the first titles being
Myst Online and the episodic
Sam & Max adventure games from Telltale.
The
latest addition to GameTap Originals is Derek Smart's
Galactic Command – Echo Squad, being developed by 3000AD (
Universal Combat) as a set of four downloadable episodes. Starting in the spring with
Episode 1: Rise of the Insurgents, the episodes will be released on a monthly basis, with the four part collection making up a campaign totaling sixteen missions.
Myst Online: Uru Live is available to GameTap PC subscribers in the United States and Canada, but will also be available via direct download to consumers and in select countries around the world. Heralding an expansion beyond PC for GameTap, the game will also be available for the Mac later this Spring.
