Following earlier news of rival site GameSpot's choices for best games of the year, consumer website GameSpy has now made its announcement choosing its 2004 Games of the Year. Unlike GameSpot's choice of a single winner from ten finalists, GameSpy has ranked its top ten titles, with the overall victor being Bungie's Xbox FPS sequel Halo 2. The full listing follows below: 1. Halo 2 (winner); Xbox, Bungie/Microsoft 2. Half-Life 2; PC, Valve/Vivendi Universal 3. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater; PS2, Konami TYO/Konami 4. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas; PS2, Rockstar North/Rockstar Games 5. World of Warcraft; PC, Blizzard/Vivendi Universal 6. Unreal Tournament 2004; PC, Epic Games/Atari 7. Ninja Gaiden; Xbox, Team Ninja/Tecmo 8. Burnout 3: Takedown; Xbox/PS2, Electronic Arts/EA Studios 9. Metroid Prime 2: Echoes; GameCube, Retro Studios/Nintendo 10. Katamari Damacy; PS2, Namco/Namco In addition to the regular "Top 10 of 2004" list, separate best-of awards were bestowed per platform, from PlayStation 2 down to Game Boy Advance.
