This week's GameFly video game rental charts for North America, specifically relating to games rented via the games-by-mail service for the week ending November 7th, show popularity over multiple game formats. On the all-platforms rental chart, the #1 torch has been passed from one battlefield to another: last week's Battlefield 2: Modern Combat has given ground to the new reigning champion, Star Wars Battlefront II. The fighting continued to the #2 spot, as Call of Duty 2: The Big Red One dug into its bunker, and another sort of war zone awaits in the urban gang conflicts of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories at #3. Star Wars Battlefront II also tops the charts of both individual platforms where it saw release. The sprawling Star Wars was #1 on the PS2 platform, displacing last week's #1, Resident Evil 4, down to #3. Undisturbed by the movement around it was Soul Calibur III, resting serenely at #2 to fight another day. On the Xbox, Star Wars again took #1, with Call of Duty: The Big Red One rising high to #2 on the FPS-centric platform. In this place, rounding out the Xbox chart for the week, is Rockstar's adaptation of The Warriors. There's comparatively little movement on the GameCube front -- the top three are the same as last week, with Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance leading at #1, Mario Superstar Baseball warming up at #2, and Pokémon XD still down at #3. Showing only slightly more signs of life is the Game Boy Advance chart: returning at #1 is Pokémon Emerald for yet another week, and Gunstar Super Heroes is remaining strong at #2. The only new face is the handheld version of The Sims 2, showing up at #3. On the Nintendo DS, Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow rises again to reclaim #1, leading new arrival Metroid Prime Pinball, which debuts in the #2 position. However strenuously Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney objected, it was overruled and busted back down to #3 for the week. Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories is naturally still the boss in the PSP's part of town, successfully fending off the challenge of the upstart Star Wars Battlefront II, which arrives on the PSP chart at #2 this week. In this place is Burnout Legends, triumphantly returning from a brief hiatus from the PSP top three.
