This week's GameFly video game rental charts for North America, specifically relating to games rented via the games-by-mail service for the week ending March 28th, show popularity over multiple game formats.
In the all-formats chart, Sony's PlayStation 2 action adventure title
God Of War heads straight in at number one, on the back of overwhelmingly positive reviews. The Free Radical-created multi-format FPS
TimeSplitters: Future Perfect turned out second, and Xbox-specific first-person shooter
Star Wars: Republic Commando hung around at number 3.
The PlayStation 2 specific chart is, naturally enough, headed up by
God of War, with Gearbox/Ubisoft's WWII title
Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 next up, and Capcom's PS2-exclusive return to form
Devil May Cry 3 third. As for the Xbox, it's simply
TimeSplitters: Future Perfect, followed by
Star Wars: Republic Commando, and then
Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 once more.
Although the top spots on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox charts are mainly made up of the top all-format games, Nintendo's GameCube has a whole different roster of largely GC-exclusive titles, with current exclusive
Resident Evil 4 dominating in first place, closely followed by
Star Fox Assault and the bongo-tastic
Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat.
As for the portable charts, the PSP sees the most popularity from vehicle combat game
Twisted Metal: Head On, with, interestingly enough, card combat game
Metal Gear Acid next, closely followed by Namco's excellent
Ridge Racer. As for the Nintendo DS,
Yoshi Touch & Go heads up the most-rented for the week, with
Wario Ware: Touched! and
Pokemon Dash hot on its tail, first-party titles to the fore.
