Yet another third-party middleware solution is becoming integrated into Emergent's Gamebryo LightSpeed engine, following Fork Particle and Scaleform: this time, Donya Labs' Simplygon optimization package for 3D game assets. Developers who hold licenses to both technologies will have access to the integration, which was developed by Donya and certified by Emergent Game Technologies. The Gamebryo LightSpeed implementation of Simplygon includes automatic mesh simplification for level-of-detail creation, batch optimization, and further quality reduction settings, as well as an "Auto LOD" tool. "Developers now have access to a seamless integration between Simplygon and LightSpeed," said Emergent sales and marketing VP Katie Morgan in a statement. "This makes it very easy for artists to automatically create and manage Level of Detail directly in their scenes and to rapidly see the results in the editor, while simultaneously giving games built on LightSpeed higher-quality LODs."
