North Carolina-based Emergent, a game tool and technology company, has recently added Auckland’s Media Design School
to its list of schools whose students are given access to its middleware product Gamebryo. The relationship is part of the company’s established educational plan called The Emergent Academic Program
The purpose of using Gamebryo in an academic setting is to train students on the industry-standard tool chain, which is widely used in the industry in companies such as Bethesda Softworks and Firaxis.
The Media Design School is the only institution in New Zealand that currently offers high-level courses specifically in game development, according to a statement from the school.
