A new, narrowly focused videogame conference, Game Tech, has been officially announced. The conference will run from November 30 through December 3, 2004 at the Embassy Suites in South San Francisco, California. According to the official press release, Game Tech, which is sponsored by ATI, Intel, and Sony, is "a small, focused conference designed for advanced programmers, lead programmers, and technical directors." The curriculum for the conference is designed by Jonathan Blow and Jeff Lander, both former technical columnists for Game Developer magazine and respected members of the game technology community. The conference consists of two programs: "Creating Believable Characters Seminar" - this brings together top researchers and developers to tackle one of the biggest challenges in meeting expectations for next generation games: creating better characters and better character behaviors. "Game Tech Leadership Summit" - this explores the challenges facing leads and technical directors, and provides a forum for technical leaders to share strategies and find common solutions.
