Ubi Soft has confirmed that it will purchase Game Studios, as the entertainment division of The Learning Company is now know, from current owners Gores Technology Group. Gores, a company specializing in turning around trouble high-tech companies, has managed through layoff and reorganization to return The Learning Company to profitability, but did not feel the entertainment division to be a core asset. The Learning Company’s educational and productivity slate will remain under the ownership of Gores, while Game Studios assets like the up-coming Myst III title and the Strategic Simulations brand will be added to the Ubi Soft stable. Financial details have not been disclosed.
