Game Sales Slide

Next generation anticipation led to a five percent dip in game sales in 2000.
Numbers crunched by market research firm NPD TRSTS show that North American video game hardware, software and accessory sales fell to $6.5 billion in 2000, down 5 percent from a mark of $6.9 billion the previous year. Much of the decline is thought to be due to gamers hording their game buying dollars until the arrival of next generation game systems. Analysts are projecting game sales to rebound in 2001, gaining as much as 15 percent.
