The official website for the 2005 Game Developers Conference (GDC), taking place from March 7th to 11th 2005 at the Moscone Center West in San Francisco, has been launched. It includes preliminary details of lectures and keynote speakers for the long-running conference for developers in the interactive entertainment industry. [Game Developers Conference is owned by the CMP Game Group, as is Gamasutra.] Already of note is a lecture on 'Fable: Lessons Learned' from Lionhead founder Peter Molyneux, talks from Eric Bibeau and Gilles Monteil of Ubisoft Montreal on animation in Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory; a session on next-generation game technology from Epic Games' Tim Sweeney; and the return of the popular Game Design Challenge, with defending champion Will Wright battling other noted game designers to create a game concept based on the poetry of Emily Dickinson. The conference has also added a new "Future Vision Track", in which creative artists from film, music, design, and games will discuss their visions of the future of interactive entertainment. Further lectures, roundtables and the conference keynotes are yet to be officially confirmed, but initial information on nearly 170 sessions can be found at the official GDC 2005 website, www.gdconf.com.
