The organizers of the recently announced 6th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards have announced that nominations are closing today for 2006's Choice Awards. Members of the International Game Developers Association, which handles voting for the industry awards, can visit the new Game Developers Choice Awards website and make their final nominations for awards including Best Game, Innovation, New Studio, Audio, Character Design, Game Design, Technology, Visual Arts and Writing. In addition, awards including Lifetime Achievement, First Penguin, 'Maverick' and Community Contribution will also be handed out at the ceremony this March. Last year's winners included Half-Life 2 for Best Game, Robotron creator Eugene Jarvis for Lifetime Achievement, and MUD co-creator Richard Bartle for the First Penguin award. The awards ceremony, produced and hosted by the Game Developers Conference and presented by the International Game Developers Association (IGDA), will take place Wednesday, March 22, at 6:30. The gala, held in conjunction with the Independent Games Festival Awards, will be hosted at the San Jose Civic Auditorium. All GDC registered attendees are welcome to attend.
