Game Developer magazine [a publication of the CMP Game Group, which also publishers Gamasutra.com] has released its 2005 Game Career Guide, containing advice for both students and established professionals in landing jobs within the video game industry.
The special annual issue includes the Annual Salary Survey, comparing wages between professions and employers, as well as a feature on "How to Get Out of College and Into Games" for aspiring students. Other special features include "A Day In The Life," chronicling an average day for a professional programmer, artist, and designer, "The Life and Times of Indie Games," detailing the possible opportunities available in independent game development; "Top 10 Books," a rundown of essential reading for those breaking into the business, and "Game School Directory," a comprehensive list of schools with programs or degrees specializing in game development.
