Glaswegian games designer Mark Gallagher has brought a £1.5m ($2.6m) lawsuit against fellow Scottish developers at Rockstar North, claiming that the company took its inspiration for the best selling
Grand Theft Auto from a project he demonstrated to them while applying for a position at the company.
Gallagher applied for the post in 1993 - before Rockstar purchased the developer and they were still know as DMA Design – when he demonstrated a prototype game entitled
Crime Inc.
Representatives from Rockstar claim that the details of any interview between Gallagher and DMA Design were not known, and that the company is contesting his legal action.
