Game Audio Network Guild Launched at GDC

This year's Game Developers Conference will witness the introduction of a new G.A.N.G., the Game Audio Network Guild.
Formed initially in February of 2002 by a group of leading audio professionals within the game industry, G.A.N.G. was officially launched on Thursday, March 21, at 9:00 a.m. According to Tommy Tallarico, president of Tommy Tallarico Studios, Inc. and founder/president of G.A.N.G., the non-profit organization's goals are to educate the gaming industry about the importance of audio in interactive entertainment and how to create a superior sound experience. "It's time that game audio is recognized and respected as more than just 'bleeps' and 'bloops,'" he said. The organization has already garnered a following by mainstream business, with Dolby Laboratories offering heavy support and advice, and Digital Theater Systems (DTS) becoming a Diamond sponsor. Game conference attendees are welcome and encouraged to join, and G.A.N.G. is offering a free T-shirt, kazoo, and a chance for their voice and concerns to be heard in the gaming industry. A new website, www.audiogang.org, has also been launched.
