Algoma University College (Algoma U) and the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) have announced the dates, location, and keynotes of the 2007 Future Play Conference.
This year’s Future Play, “Research, Play, Share,” will be held in Toronto, Ontario Canada, November 15-17, 2007.
Conference keynotes include Espen Aarseth, one of the founding fathers of Ludology; Frans Mayra, Head of the Games Research Lab group and Deputy Director of the Hypermedia Lab at the University of Tampere, Finland; Linden Lab’s “Second Life” developer, Cory Ondrejka; John Nordlinger, current Program Manager at Microsoft Research; Constance Steinkuehler, Assistant Professor in the Educational Communication & Technology program in the Curriculum & Instruction department of the University of Wisconsin-Madison; John Hopson, Games Researcher for Microsoft Game Studios; and Mia Consalvo, whose research interests include the critical study of popular culture and new media.
Along with keynotes, peer reviewed academic research will be presented, and a games competition will be held to highlight the work of students.
