Forum Launched To Discuss Standard 3D File Format

Intel has created a forum on its site to generate discussion about an open, standard file format for 3D games.
The forum, "CAD-3D for Games Forum" is hosted by Intel Developer Services, and is monitored and moderated by the CAD-3D Working Group (within the auspices of the Web3D Consortium). The working group is in the process of defining the technical requirements for an open standard file format and player for CAD and 3D data, with the hope of making 3D objects reusable across industries. The CAD-3D Working Group points out that there are more 3D objects in the CAD world than anywhere else, and it hopes to set a standard file format will results in a wider selection of objects for both game developers and architects. The CAD-3D for Games Forum can be found at http://intel.forums.liveworld.com/forum.jsp?forum=222.
