Newly formed, UK-based massively multiplayer online game (MMOG) developer and middleware firm Nice Tech, formerly known as Nicely Crafted, has announced that Doug Littlejohns, the former president and CEO of Red Storm Entertainment, has agreed to become the chairman of the organization.
The former British Royal Navy submarine captain started in the video games business as a consultant for submarine simulator
Tom Clancy’s SSN in 1996. This initial collaboration with the famous writer led to the creation of Red Storm Entertainment, which was subsequently bought by French publisher Ubisoft in 2000, and has been responsible for a number of best selling series including
Rainbow Six and
Ghost Recon.
Based in Cambridge, England, Nice Tech created massively multiplayer PC strategy game
Time Of Defiance when called Nicely Crafted, and previously announced a relationship with now-defunct Elixir Studio to create
Republic Dawn, an MMO based on Elixir's
Republic: The Revolution strategy game. It also lists 'massively multi-player online sports game'
World Hunt Online as another in-development title.
The company is actively looking to develop strategic partnerships with publishers, and the company is also working on a number of titles developed using its proprietary AliceServer Artificial Reality end-to-end MMOG development development platform. "I didn't envisage getting back into the industry" commented Doug, "but... I am very much looking forward to helping establish Nice Tech as a premier MMO developer and technology provider".
