Former Disney, Digital Domain Executives Form Rebel Arts
Two former senior executives from Disney and Digital Domain have founded Rebel Arts, a new company hoping to establish a cost-effective standard for massively multiplayer game servers.
Founders Paul Villadolid, former SVP at Walt Disney Television, and Larry Hess, former software engineer at Digital Domain, will initially develop and deploy their Versatile Accelerated Server Technology (VAST) System, designed to handle over 100,000 simultaneous users and more than 2 million transactions per second, according to Rebel Arts. Rebel Arts is partnering with AMD and Linux Networx for chips and servers respectively.
