In today's main Gamasutra feature, we chat to James Gwertzman, the Director of Business Development at PopCap, about the fundamentals of the Bejeweled developer's casual business, moves into the mobile and console spaces, and what's in store for the future. Gwertzman comments of the increasing competition in the casual game market: "PopCap in the past year has actually grown quite a bit... We've increased the size of our studio a lot. It's no secret that casual games now are much harder to build than ever. There's a ton more competition. The secret's out, and a lot of developers are turning away from the mainstream market – which, frankly, is brutal. So I think a number of talented people trying to make it in casual games are increasing, and the content is increasing too." You can now read the full Gamasutra feature on the subject, including more information on PopCap's plans for the casual, mobile and even Xbox 360 markets (no registration required, please feel free to link to the article from external websites).
