In today's feature covering the extensive developer sessions held at last week's E3 Expo, Brandon Sheffield covers this session discussing the growing mobile video game marketplace and its 'casual audience', and featuring Levi Buchanan of IGN Wireless as moderator, and panelists including Tim Walsh of THQ Wireless, John Batter of EA Mobile, Ichiro Otobe of Square Enix, Larry Shapiro of Walt Disney Internet Group, and David Gosen of I-play.
In the introduction to the feature, Sheffield comments on the initial conundrum facing the panelists:
"But the [mobile] market is expanding in two main ways, as far as developers are concerned. Traditional console game developers are encroaching on the mobile space on one side, and on the other side, casual, Internet and game companies with mobile roots are making significant advances of their own. Is there a proper path? Do these different groups have anything to learn from one another? That's what this panel was out to discover."
