Familiar Names Dominate In UK Sales Charts

With Christmas fast approaching the British sales charts are beginning to solidify with the top ten composed almost entirely of multiple iteration sequels. Gears of War remains the only non-sequel/non-licensed game in the charts, although the Xbox 360 exclusive title has fallen another three places to number six. The only new entry in the top ten is Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Vegas at number ten – the delayed PC and PSP releases making it the second of two Xbox 360 exclusives. The only further disruption to the UK top ten is now likely to come from the launch of the Wii on Friday, although with stock of hardware and software reportedly lower than expected its exact impact is difficult to predict. Outside of the top ten movie tie-in Happy Feet has re-entered the charts at number eighteen, while quiz game Who Wants to be a Millionaire? Party Edition, which is compatible with Sony’s Buzz! controllers, debuts at number twenty-five. Meanwhile England’s poor performance in the Ashes test series in Australia appears to affected the performance of EA’s Cricket 07, which enters at number thirty-three.
