Eyematic announced the availability of Eyematic Face Station 1.5, the company’s computer vision-based 3D facial animation software suite. Face Station uses Eyematic’s computer vision software engines to automatically recognize and track facial expressions from either a live video camera or pre-recorded video clips. Facial expressions are analyzed and captured in real time and used to animate fully shaded 3D models in 3ds Max or Maya. No motion capture hardware, facial markers or offline rendering processes are required. Face Station also includes Eyematic Avatar Editor, allowing the creation of ready-to-animate characters complete with morph targets using front and side photographs. The Face Station 1.5 software suite for Discreet 3ds Max is available for $1,995. A Maya version will be available this summer.
