Independent developers Chair Entertainment (former Advent Rising developers) have announced their latest original IP game, with underwater conquest action title Undertow for Xbox Live Arcade, due for release this summer. Powered by Unreal Engine 3 and including a full 15-level single player campaign as well as up to 16 player online battles, Undertow gives players the choice of being one of four unique, upgradeable unit types -- from fast and agile to large and powerful -- and taking part in conquest-style battles. Players will score points by killing enemies, accomplishing team goals, and taking check points, with those points being used to later upgrade unit abilities. Split off from the GlyphX development team, former developers of Xbox/PC action title Advent Rising, Chair Entertainment also announced in June of last year their first major original IP, Empire, co-written by author and Rising co-writer Orson Scott Card. Said Chair creative director Donald Mustard, "We've really enjoyed designing Undertow for Xbox Live Arcade because it's given us the freedom to create a pure gaming experience focused on fun, addictive game play. Whether a player is looking for hours of intense multiplayer or they have just 10 minutes for the ultimate gaming experience, we're confident Undertow will be as exciting to play as it has been for us to create."
