Officials from British-based online publisher
Eurogamer Network have announced the appointment of former Future Publishing CEO Greg Ingham as a strategic advisor to the company.
A prominent figure in the British media industry since 1982, Ingham launched the now defunct trade paper CTW in 1984 and joined now dominant consumer magazine publisher Future Publishing in 1988. Following a rapid increase in the company’s market share, Ingham was promoted first to managing director and then to CEO of the company.
Ingham then
left Future Publishing in June 2006, as the company announced a loss of $22.6m in its latest round of disappointing results, commenting: "I wish now to do something different in my business life and to broaden my experiences. I am sure this is the right decision, both for me and the business."
Ingham’s advisory role will see him helping to plan the growth of the company which currently operates consumer website Eurogamer.net, industry site GamesIndustry.biz and mobile phone website mobile MobileIndustry.biz. The company also recently launched a German version of the consumer site at Eurogamer.de.
"I'm delighted to be involved. Rupert and his team have built a real success with great prospects - all the more impressive given that it was a self-financed startup and has grown organically in the face of strong competition,” commented Ingham. "As we all know, the online sector is enjoying tremendous growth; this is a great time to be back in games media."
