The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) has announced today the election of Patricia Vance, president of the ESRB, as a member of its Board of Directors. Additionally, Josh Resnick, president and co-founder of Pandemic Studios, was re-elected to the board.
The AIAS Board of Directors is the governing body of the 10,000 member Academy and is composed of 16 industry leaders representing Atari, Electronic Arts, Microsoft, Nintendo, and Ubisoft as well as representatives from the independent development community. Executive positions are filled from the AIAS's board annually and new board members are appointed to two year terms.
Vance has served as president of ESRB since November 2002. As president, she is responsible for overseeing and enforcing the computer and video game industry's self-regulatory practices. This includes ensuring that video game consumers have effective tools with which to make educated purchase decisions.
Prior to joining the ESRB, Vance spent 18 years at Disney/ABC, with responsibility for developing ABC properties across a range of new media and market initiatives.
