London, England-based training facility Escape Studios has announced a new range of visual effects, 3D animation and games specific courses due to launch in January 2007. The courses have been developed in collaboration with leading companies and range from six weeks to six months in length.
Designed in partnership with studios including Rare and MPC, the course options allow students to choose between visual effects, games and 3D character-based work. In particular, the Maya Professional for Games course is an 18-week program that has been designed for entering the games industry as a 3D artist.
By combining three modules, students will be able to develop a broad range of skills within Maya before focusing on specific games techniques and considerations. Central to this goal is the ability to understand the games production pipeline from initial concept to viewing 3D assets within the game engine.
The inclusion of the Maya for Characters module advances proficiency with the software and also introduces character-oriented production pipeline. As any gamer will know, characters and creatures are an integral part of the majority of titles released today.
Escape Studios’ courses were created with the aim of equipping students with the essential practical skills necessary to break into the world of computer graphics. The curriculum is rigorously evaluated by an impressive advisory board made up of representatives from countless studios. This coupled with a strict policy of only using industry professionals as instructors means that the courses are accurately tuned to industry requirements.
