The Entertainment Software Association's charitable arm, the ESA Foundation, will now offer 30 scholarships to minorities and females interested in pursuing careers in game development, twice as many as it offered previously. The ESA Foundation is now in its third year of awarding scholarships, and this year, will collectively award $90,000 to women and minorities interested in becoming game developers, artists, designers and programmers. This year, the scholarship program will also offer scholarships to high school students and full-time students at four-year colleges and universities. Qualifying students can each get one $3000 scholarship for the 2009-10 academic year by applying between now and May 15. "A growing number of students know that computer and video games are the premier entertainment medium for expressing their impressive creativity and innovative thinking," says ESA president and CEO Michael Gallagher. "We are excited to provide these scholarships to help future game industry employees make the dreams that they have for themselves and our industry a reality." More information on process and specifics for ESA Foundation grants is available at the official ESA Foundation website.
