Epic Games and its Chair Entertainment studio have revealed that the first Unreal Engine 3 game for iOS, Infinity Blade, will reach Apple touch platforms this holiday, although pricing and an exact release date have yet to be confirmed. It's the project first unveiled at Apple's September 2010 event under the name Project Sword. Glimpses of the title have appeared in ad campaigns for the iPhone 4, showing off the swordplay and boss battles on offer in the game. Infinity Blade will feature a single-player mode with combat, an experience progression system and items, and the company says it plans free content updates and a multiplayer mode to be released down the line. Working with Apple's Game Center, players will be able to battle against one another. When Epic released its free "Epic Citadel" demo for iOS to show off the tech, it saw an enormous response, with over one million downloads soon after availability. It was just a teaser for the company's iOS plans; the Gears of War developer has said its Unreal Development Kit will be able to generate apps across all iOS devices. "More than one million people have been introduced to the world of Infinity Blade through our free app, 'Epic Citadel,' and soon everyone will be able to play our first fully-featured game for iOS devices," says Epic Games president Michael Capps, president of Epic Games. "With Infinity Blade, Chair has created an amazing-looking, incredibly fun game that really demonstrates the potential of triple-A mobile gaming."
