Emergent's Gamebryo LightSpeed rapid prototyping tool, a development environment built on top of Emergent's multiplatform Gamebryo engine, now features user interface design capabilities provided by Scaleform.
A specialized integration of Scaleform GFx is now available in Gamebryo Lightspeed to those who license both pieces of software, offering a variety of in-depth tools for creating Flash-powered UI elements through LightSpeed's ToolBench interface rather than with separately-built tools.
Scaleform says its UI tool suite has been employed in over 400 games, recently including
Dragon Age: Origins, The Saboteur, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II, Prototype, Borderlands, and others.
"Scaleform GFx has been the industry standard for middleware UI solutions since its introduction and we are very proud of this custom incorporation of their tech. LightSpeed's flexibility and extensibility makes it possible to develop unique integrations that maximize the power and functionality of third party technology, both from our partners and our customers themselves," said Emergent sales and marketing VP Katie Morgan in a statement.
"We were very impressed with the flexibility of LightSpeed and will continue working with Emergent to provide future feature updates that further streamline workflow," added Scaleform CEO Brendan Iribe.
