Emergent Game Technologies has announced that its Gamebryo game engine now supports the Nintendo Wii, enabling the development of titles for Nintendo's console using an adapted version of the engine used on Bethesda's Oblivion and EA's upcoming Warhammer Online. Emergent also recently unveiled an upgrade to its Gamebryo engine focused on performance and feature enhancements for next-generation platforms. The latest release aims to enable dramatic rendering results while attempting to significantly reduce development resources required for production. Gamebryo is a part of the company's modular Emergent Elements toolset, and has previously been optimized for development on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. It was used on Bethesda Softworks' The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and on its upcoming Fallout 3, both for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, in addition to EA-Mythic's upcoming Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. Said Emergent CEO Geoffrey Selzer, "We are delighted to announce the Wii port of our Gamebryo engine. With the success of Nintendo's Wii console catching much of the industry off guard and offering fresh interactive features, developers need new tools to be able to develop for multiple platforms that offer vastly different capabilities and require different programming techniques."
